aan ont SB August 4, 1928 WINNETKA TALK 53 SEMINARY EXCAVATION SOON TO BE COMPLETED Work on Structure Progresses; Three Units Are to Be Erected at Once Work is progressing rapidly on the first units of the $750,000 plant of the Western Theological seminary. With the breaking of the ground recently, detailed plans for the plant were an- nounced by Dr. William C. DeWitt, together with several memorial gifts to the seminary. Three units of the plant are to be erected immediately, according to the announcement, as a result of favor- able decision from the State Supreme court over the question of erecting dormitories and the issuance of a building permit by the city of Evans- ton for the plant. The seminary buildings will be lo- cated at Haven street and Sheridan road in Evanston, just across the street from Garrett Biblical institute and Patten gymnasium. Administra- tion, class room and library buildings are those started today. The adminis- tration and class room portions will be a memorial to Tolman Wheeler, founder of the institution; the cloister will commemorate the late William R. Stirling, a trustee of the seminary for many years, and the library will be a memorial to the late Robert B. Greg- ory, prominent Chicago business man. It is a gift of Mrs Gregory. HOW TO TINT A ROOM In choosing the textural finish for the walls of a home, there are many things to be considered--the size of the room, the location, the lighting, the furnishnigs, and the purpose. As a general rule it should be remembered that one can tint plastic paint a little lighter color than if the finish were to be smooth and flat. This is desirable because of the fact that the plastic paint texture is such as to break up light. Therefore, the shadows cast on the surface make it seem darker than it really is. N. U. ERECTS BUILDING New Structure to House Army Head- quarters and Class Rooms Construction work was started re- cently on a new $75,000, 2-story brick building on the Evanston campus of Northwestern university which will be used primarily as the headquarters of the military units of the R. O. T. C. It will also relieve the pressure for class rooms in the college of liberal arts. The new building, which will be 90x43 feet, will have five class rooms and two offices on the first floor and four rooms and five offices on the second. It will be built just 19 feet north of Fisk Hall on the lake front, and will be ready for occupancy when the fall term opens in September. Some seventy classes in the college of liberal arts have not been assigned rooms for next year because of lack of space, but the new building will take care of all of these. Both the military and naval units of the R. O. T. C. at Northwestern university will have buildings of their own when this new structure is com- pleted. The navy building on the lake front was completed last Sep- tember. It was the original intention to call the new building for the mili- tary department the army building, but inasmuch as it will be used also by the college of liberal arts in the emergency, it will be named Emer- gency hall. Should the building not be finished when the fall term opens, classes will be accommodated temporarily in the Garrett Biblical institute. CASEMENT ADJUSTERS USED Casement adjusters make it possible to hold your casement window open at any angle. Made of solid brass or galvanized steel or iron, the tubular mechanism operates silently with a minimum of physical effort. If the wind is heavy the mechanism will ad- just enough to prevent broken window panes. Screens can be used with this adjustor and the window may be ma- nipulated without disturbing the screen. 799 Elm Street Absolute Facts About a FAMILY HOME Attractive and Comfortable 9 Room Residence Beautiful Grounds--145 ft.
