Johanson The exposed position of the new waterworks called for the use of con- struction materials that last for a long time and this problem which con- fronted the builders was answered by the selection of Milwaukee cincrete. P. I. Johanson of Winnetka, the north shore representative of the Cincrete company was awarded the contract and the completion of the building is termed by Mr. Johanson, the unique architectural feature of the year. It is pointed out that the selection of cin- crete was made only after much con- sideration. Water Plant Is Heated by Latest Kleen Heat Model Modern equipment is to be found throughout the new waterworks, this including a Kleen Heat plant of a highly efficient type. The architects and engineers decided that an automa- tic ail burner would reliably and effi- ciently furnish steam heat and the result was the selection of the new model known as "805." This new mo- del operates with even greater quiet- ness that other models which have been noted for their silent operation. One important factor in the selection of Kleen Heat was the reduction of furnace labor and attention to a negli- gible minimum. Plastering Job Handled by B. P. Kiefer of Ravinia The contract for plastering the new waterworks was awarded to Ben P. Kiefer of Ravinia, who has plastered many north shere structures from Ev- anston to Ravinia. The size of the waterworks made the plastering job a considerable one. North Shore Board Plans Attending Big Convention While realtors of the North Shore Board are to "rassle" with the Sun- day closing problem at their meeting next Monday they're also going to use up some time in discussing plans for the twelfth annual convention of the Illinois Association of Real Estate Boards which is to be held at Joliet, October 4, 5 and 6. Plans will be out- lined by the N. S. Convention com- mittee, as this will be the last meet- ing before the convention. It is expected that the Joliet con- vention will be the outstanding event in the history of the State Associa- tion. Plans for the convention are ac- tively under way and point to sessions that will be not only educational but interesting and entertaining as well. Joliet, the host board, is busy ar- ranging for the reception, care and en- tertainment of those who will attend the convention. Fred J. Walsh, presi- dent of the Joliet Real Estate Board and district vice-president of the State Association, is chairman of the local central convention committee. He has appointed various committees to arrange for and logk after the many convention features and details. The new and comfortable Louis Joliet Hotel which, by the way, was opened a year ago, will be convention headquarters. The convention ses- sions will be held in the auditorium of the Chamber of Commerce. The convention will open on Thurs- day morning, October 4. As a pre- liminary to the opening the Joliet Board will be host to the officers and directors of the Association and to the presidents and secretaries of all mem- ber boards at a dinner on Wednesday evening, October 3.
