September 15, 1928 WINNETKA TALK €5 I Rabbi L. J. Kopald Presides at Jewish Holiday Ceremonies Rabbi Louis J. Kopald, who was in- stalled last week at the North Shore Congregation Israel church in Glen- coe, is officiating at the Jewish holi- day services being held in that church this week. Rosh Hoshanah (New Year's), start- ed last night and is observed by Re- form Judaism groups through today. Services at the North Shore Congre- gation Israel, which is attended by Reform Jews, started last night at 8:15 o'clock and were to be held this morning at ten o'clock. ILast night Rabbi Kopald spoke on "The Chal- lenge." Today his subject is "The Charge." Yom Kippur, or the Day of Atone- ment, begins next Sunday night, Sep- tember 23, to continue through Mon- day. Missionary to China Leaves at Noon Today Rev. Paul R. Reynolds, missionary to China from the Winnetka Congrega- tional church, who, with his family, has been home for a prolonged stay, will depart today at 12:10 p. m., standard time, from the Union station, Chicago, for Seattle, from whence they will sail September 22, on the President Pierce, for China. H. Nakutin Opens New Winnetka Tailor Shop H. Nakutin, Monarch Tailors, who has been operating stores on the north shore for twenty years, has opened a new Monarch Tailors store at 149 Tower road, Winnetka. Mr. Nakutin also has stores in Glencoe and Evanston. HOME FROM EAST Mrs. Donald McPherson and her children returned to their home at 644 Pine street ten days ago. Fannie and Donald had been in camp in the East all summer and Mrs. McPherson had been visiting in various New England states. Fannie is leaving again next Tuesday to enter Miss Hall's school in Pittsfield for the year. Miss Ella Kroeschell, who has many friends in Winnetka, and the family with whom she has been living for the past two years in Copenhagen, Den- mark, are coming here early in Octo- ber. They will be at the Homestead in Evanston. HOME FROM CHARLEVOIX The Frederick H. Scotts of 175 Sheridan road, who have spent most of the summer at the Chicago club, Charlevoix, returned home ten days ago. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Keep (Isa- bel Scott) who spent the summer with them, left this week to motor east where they will take up their resi- dence in Sheffield, Mass. Mr. Keep is one of the masters at Berkshire school which is located there. LEAVES FOR COLLEGE Charles Clifford Schwartz of 187 Ridge avenue, who was a guest of the Frank Ferry's at Land O'Lakes, Wis., returned home a week ago and left last Monday night for Northfield, Minn., where he attends Carleton col- lege. Ann Jeffries of 811 Bryant avenue entertained eight boys and girls at a swimming party and dinner at the Vista del Lago last Thursday in cele- bration of her eleventh birthday. --_--(---- Mr. and Mrs. Francis M.
