Hubbard Woods Trust & Savings Bank 652 Linden Avenue Hubbard Woods nl} Report Another Fox in Skokie; Will Hold Hunt This Week-End The fact that wild foxes still inhabit the Skokie and wooded areas is not generally known. John Hartnett, huntsman of the Longmeadow hunt of + Winnetka (formerly Indian Hill hunt) advises us that a farmer came to the hunt kennels at Hubbard and Avoca roads a few days ago and com- plained that foxes were stealing his chickens and geese. He said he shot at one three times but missed. The farmer asked that the club's fox hounds be used in ridding his farm of the nuisance. Mr. Hartnett advised the farmer not to shoot the foxes but to report their presence to C. Colton Daughaday, master, who would hunt them out with the Longmeadow pack. Last season the trail of live fox was picked up several times by the hounds, and chases resulted. One live fox was killed near Carroll D. Murphy's home on Winnetka road. The Longmeadow pack will hunt the most recently re- ported fox in his Skokie valley lair this weekend. : Mr. Hartnett says the prospects for several fox hunts this season are very good and that riders are showing keen interest in drag and fox hunting in Winnetka where the sport has been es- tablished for many years. He states that the following riders, besides the hunt servants and the master, C. Col- ton Daughaday, have been out with the Longmeadow hounds this year: Col. A. E. Peirce, Mr. and Mrs. Donald F. McPherson, Arthur M. Cox, Ernest H. Hicks, H. C. Alley, Mr. and Mrs. Fran- cis P. Butler, William G. Woolfolk, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest S. Ballard, Ogden West, and Henry Gardner. Mrs. Ella Koontz Johnson, who has taught piano for six years in Win- netka, is taking up the work again after her summer vacation. C. M.
