BUSHMAN in person in CHARLES KALEY'S "SPARKLES OF 1928" TALKING PICTURE Mystery Drama Caught ;. Fog Conrad Nagle May McAvoy VITAPHONE THE FOY FAMILY Fox MOVIETONE News BUSHMAN AT GRANADA Screen Star Will Appear in Person in Charles Kaley"s New Show, "Sparkles of 1928" One of the most impressive figures in screen history, an actor who is uni- versally known for his work of the last fifteen years, Francis X. Bush- man, will appear in person at the Granada theater in the Greater Show season program for the week starting this Saturday, October 20. He will follow Miss Patricola and star in Charles Kaley's "Sparkles of 1928." Mr. Bushman is the hero of "Grau- stark," the motion picture based on the famous novel by George Barr Mc- Cutcheon. In recent months he re- ceived the applause of the entire mo- tion picture public for his characteriza- tion of "Messala" in "Ben Hur." Apart from his fame as a screen idol, he is an athlete, sculptor, hunter, and an artist model. He is a Chicago star whose first work was with Essanay on the north side. His personal ap- pearance with his own company is in an act reported to be original and en- tertaining, Conrad Nagel and May McAvoy, whose speaking voices are already proved by performances in previous talking photoplays, come to the Gran- ada in "Caught in the Fog," a Vita- phone synchronized mystery drama. Graeme Players Will Give Revival of "Cappy Ricks" No role seems to be out of reach for Joe Driscoll, featured player of the Graeme Players, the snappy stock company playing at the Alcyon thea- ter in Highland Park Friday nights. On Friday of last week he registered in the matinee idol role of "Tony" in "The Patsy." Next Friday, Octo- ber 26, Driscoll will have a different role when he plays Peter B. Kyne's lovable old character of "Cappy Ricks." When the Graeme Players arrived at the Alcyon last spring one of their first efforts was this same play, "Cappy Ricks." Since then they have been besieged by so many requests for a revival of the play that they finally consented to present it again next Friday. The feature picture scheduled to show with "Cappy Ricks" is Wil- liam Boyd in "The Yankee Clipper." ANOTHER ALL-TALKIE "The Missing Man" is to be the title of Pathe's first all-talking picture, which will go into production soon. It is adapted from a stage play by the eminent European playwright, John Posner, and Benjamin Glazer. _ Joseph Schildkraut will play the lead- ing role in the production, "The Devil," which Universal is making from the stage play of that title.
