November 24, 1928 WINNETKA TALK 13 Edwin Eels Talks About Neighborhood Settlement District At the morning session of the Wo- man's society of the Winnetka Congre- gational church Wednesday, November 21, Edwin Eels of Association house, Chicago, was the speaker. His topic was "Onward Neighborhood House." He told of the large factor it had be- come in the life and welfare of the foreign people living near Ohio and Leavitt streets. Mr. Eels stated that it ministers to at least ten thousand people in its half mile square area and that it is functioning as perhaps few neighborhood houses are. The new building is now complete and Mr. Eels proclaimed it a "little gem," planned admirably and so well suited to the needs of the many clubs and classes there. "Onward" has be- come very interesting to the people of Winnetka and. Glencoe and many committees are working hard to furnish this new building as it should be. The afternoon program was in charge of Mrs. George Gordon who had arranged for a delightful group of negro readings and spirituals. The latter were given by Mrs. Marie Brown Frazier of the Chicago Urban league.
