Page 3 Now let us go back to our Sunday School which was organized by Mr Bedford in 1883.Mr John Tait was the first Superintendent position he hold for .many years and was always in some way connected with the Sunday School. He had able and willing helpers in Mr Beemer and Mr Gardiner.Later the work was faithfully carried on for a number of years by Mr Andrew Tulloch. These men have all passed to their sure reward, for God has promised that His Word shall not return unto Him void. After the retirement of Andrew Tulloch the Superintendent's duties v;ere taken over by John T Tait, son of the first Superintendent. For the past two years the work is under the direction of Jack Boville, assisted by Mary Beherriell. The seed has been sown, sometimes where the children gathered in a hone or tin, church. The promise of reward is not to the successful teacher but to the faithful one. The Young People's Society was organized in 1930 by Rev Rickard and has been a wonderful heap to the church both spiritually and financially, having taken care of the church services on several occasions and assisting with the choir, besides spending a great deal of their time and talent to raise money for church purposes. To our young People's Group goes the honour of putting the electric lights in our church although some of the fixtures were donated by a Mr McClelland of Sault Ste Marie. The first break occurred to this group in the death of their Secretary Morrison Boville in July 1940.Another sad blow was struck by the passing of Beverley McClelland who was killed in action while serving with the Canadian Forces in the Second World War. Again on Christmas night 1941 our community was saddened by the deaths-tragic deaths-of Ruth Gardiner,Secretary of the C.G.l.T. and her brother Chester Gardiner, Secretary of our Sunday School, However the surviving members of these groups rallied around their leaders, determined to carry the torch which had been lighted and to carry on the good work which had been started. The Trail Rangers Group was organized by Rev Stymiest in 1936,and while they have not always been active, yet in the years when they had leadership they showed signs of wonderful ability along different lines particularly under the leadership of one of our young men-Leonard Allen. The C.G.l.T. was organized in 1937 by Rev Stymiest who gave a great deal of time as leader of the group, along with Mrs Stymiest who was the active leader. After the Stymiests left our field xxx the C.G£ I.T. work was continued by Mrs a J McKaye and Miss Docking and later by Mrs J V Clarke and Miss McAuley. At present this leadership is carried on by one of our school teachers-Mrs Roger Speisman. The Explorers were organised in 1951 by Mrs Logan Eagle. This group is particularly active as was shown by their exceptionally fine report at the Congregational mooting in January of this year 1954.Their leaders at the present tine are Mrs H.*rvey Allen and Mrs Roy Nicholson who have sacrificed a fro at deal of their time to meet with the girls each week. One of their greatest ambitions is to have a history of our church made available to everyone. We are particularly pleased with our Explorers, the C.G.l.T.,the Trail Rangers and the Young Peoples and we feel that the work of our church will be cell cared for when we older ones retire from service. The Women's Association(Ladies' Aid)was organized by Rev O W Holmes in 1934 with Mrs Holmes as the first President. Special mention should be made of the first Honorary President,Airs Isaac Nioholson, who in spite of her eighty or more years, worked unceasingly, making cushions, quilts and knitted goods to be sold and the proceeds given for church work. She indeed has set a pattern for us all, to try to follow.
