Description

Wood and cloth cranberry picker. This item appears to be handmade out of wood, leather and cloth. The tines are not perfectly matched and the handle shows evidence of hand carving.

A strip of thick leather holds a small curved piece of metal and a small cloth sack attached underneath acted as the receptacle for the berries as they fell through a hole in the back end of the scoop.

Notes

Where most cranberry scoops were made of all wood with a solid back end to hold the berries this one has a hole in the bottom of the scoop so the berries can fall into a sack attached to the bottom. The cloth would also allow excess water to drain away as berries were gathered. Made in 1919.
