Notes
Facsimile of engraved copy of Address to the Chief from clansmen settled in Canada dated at Glengarry, Upper Canada, Sept. 1832. The first seventeen names are those of our branch of Clan Chisholms beginning with George of Burlington Bay, continuing through hsi sons and grandsons and ending with his nephew George of Queenston Heights. Sir Allan MacNab of Dundurn Castle, Hamilton, Ont., brought from Scotland a handwritten copy as a gift to the Oakville Chisholms. This is still in possession of the family, but the ink becomes fainter with time. Although the document is quoted in Mackenzie's History of the Chisholms this is a rare book not easily come by and the above is barely readable without a magnifying glass. For these reasons a typewritten copy of this important document is here appended.
