Description

This is the St. Marys Public Library which was built in 1905. The building was funded by Andrew Carnegie, a successful businessman who funded over one thousand libraries during his life time. The first librarian to work in the St. Marys Library is identified in newspapers as Miss King who solely managed the single book room that existed at the time. By 1913 the collection had expanded and a card catalogue was put into place using the Dewey Decimal system for non-fiction books, the most advanced library technique at the time. The library continued to grow and is still located in the same building today.

Image is good but the paper it is on is fairly thin and slightly curling.
