Description
William Lyle Hutton was the builder of the house located at 46 Church St. S. Construction of the house was completed around 1873. The house includes brackets typical of houses built in the mid to late 19th century, as well as a bay window and ornate entryway.

Hutton was born in 1826 in the Niagara District and was known to be a successful businessman. He owned a general store in St. Marys by 1862. In June of 1873, the Bank of Montreal purchased the property from Hutton. A series of bank managers lived in the house after this point with their respective families until 1934, including Robert Hillyard, John Leslie, J.W.G. Watson, D.T. Neil, and A.G. Loughrey.

In 1934, Dr. Thomas John McInnis purchased the home from the Bank of Montreal. He and his family lived in the south residential portion while he used the old bank addition for his medical practice. In 1967, Dr. McInnis moved to Toronto with his family.
