- Description
- This storey and a half house displays architectural aspects that were popular in house design in the mid to late 19th century. The house features an exterior chimney which can be seen on the right side of the photo. There is extra trim around the windows, as well as ginger bread details around the arched gable window. Other design elements seen on this house that are commonly seen on other houses in St. Marys include the front veranda, the intricate fretwork design and the curved brackets attached to the pillars. However, this particular house has stylized porch pillars, similar to the look of railing posts, instead of the commonly seen square pillars. The house is now lighter in colour, and the ginger breading around the upper level window has been removed.
Hard copies of this image can be accessed at the St. Marys Museum & Archives.
