Description
This early farmhouse, located at 124 Salina Street North, was built for John O'Brien, a coal and implement dealer. By the time this photo was taken in 1973, the home was owned by his niece Mary Leveson.

This house is an example of the many white frame houses seen in St. Marys. Note the generous sized veranda at the front of the house. Verandas such as this were commonly built on houses in the late 19th century. This veranda is supported by Greco-Roman inspired pillars. The house also features a half-moon, or lunette, window above the porch overhang. This structure remains similar in appearance to when it was originally built; however, it has been painted a darker colour and the sun room visible in this photo has been removed and replaced with an additional porch.

Hard copies of this image are available at the St. Marys Museum & Archives.
