Description
Margaret Aiken Humphris was an owner of this house located at 257 Thomas Street. Margaret lived in this house with her children. Most notably her son Joseph Humphris, a local carpenter and architect, lived in the home with his mother.

This light red brick cottage displays the four-paned arched windows with lintel detailing over both the windows and door that was commonly used in late 19th century house building. The house also features a hipped roof, typically seen on one-storey houses, ornate brackets, a transom window over the doorway, and a stoop at the front of the house. Lighter coloured brick on the lintels and quoins at the corners of the house adds distinction to the façade. Additions have been added to the side and back of the property. However, the house largely remains unchanged on the front exterior.
