Description
This large rough-faced stone home was built for local merchant Robert Dickson in 1890; it became known locally as “Gray Gables”. The house was built using quarried St. Marys limestone with red stone accents around the windows. The architect responsible for the design of the home was George W. Gouinlock, most known for his design of St. Marys’ current Town Hall. The house was built in a Romanesque-Revival style. The house features an ornate stone veranda entrance cut back from the outer exterior. Dormer windows grace the roof of this grand house, and there are protruding two-storey bay windows at the southwest corner of the house. Robert's daughter, Marion Dickson, was the last member of the family to live in the home.
