- Description
- This house style was commonly seen after the turn of the century. The roof line is known as a “Gambrel” or “Dutch” roof, and was a popular style for a number of years. The "Gambrel" roof allows for more space in the upper storey in comparison to a slanted, gable roof. Looking to the left side of the photo, note the detailing carved into the porch overhang over the entry facing Widder Street East. A larger dormer with four narrow windows sits on the East side of the roof. The house has retained several of its original exterior features; however, shake siding has been added under the roof peaks and on the dormers and a protruding bow window has been added to the side of the home.
