- Description
- A photo taken by Milton Reesor giving a view of Horseshoe Quarry in 1903. The quarry is behind the rail lines seen here in this photo and men are working alongside the two sets of tracks. Cars are loaded with stone and ready for transport.
The Horseshoe Quarry predated the cement company in St. Marys. The quarry provided stone for cement making before the company began to quarry its own stone. The quarry was located at the far south end of Church Street and was close enough to the rail line that the Grand Trunk ran a short spur to the quarry to load stone. - Notes
