- Description
- This photo displays two steam locomotives together in what is known as a "double-header". There were several reasons for the use of a double-header: priority freight that required a faster transit, locomotives being transferred from one location to another, or the need for extra horsepower for hauling heavy loads over long distances. An engineer and fireman would have been required for each locomotive unit.
This image was captured by local photography enthusiast Milton Reesor. He took several railroad related photographs in the late 19th to early 20th century. - Notes
