- Description
- This image is one in a series of postcards from the Reg Near collection. A photograph of the North side of Queen Street, taken at the intersection of Queen and Wellington Street. The photo looks like it was taken from above ground level. The photo highlights the store fronts open at the time the photo was taken which must have been during the winter months as is evident from the snow covering the ground and roof tops. On the corner of Queen and Wellington is a sign on the top of the building which reads "Stoves Paints" and on the side facing Queen Street "Hardware." Beside the Hardware Store is the Andrews Jewellers Store. Some of the buildings unique features can be seen from the photo such as the mansard roof, cresting and the clock which came from a factory in Connecticut, Seth Thomas. The building was designed by William Williams.
Notice beside Andrews Jewellers is "C. Moore Grocer" store. Town Hall is visible in the background of the image. - Notes
- Condition: Excellent- photo is clear. There are some dark smudges across the top of the postcard. The backside of the postcard is not used, however, it has what looks like black construction paper stuck to the edges as though it were fastened and pulled off a black mat.
