Description
This image is one in a series of postcards from the Reg Near collection. This house was built along the banks of the Thames River by Robert Stewart in the summer of 1856. His father worked as a overseer on the newfound Grand Trunk Railway project in the area. Built out of local stone, it features a high-peaked roof, large windows, and a verandah along the front. These are common features of this time period.
