Description

This house, still standing today, provides an example of Gothic Revival style elements commonly used in mid to late-19th century construction. The house has a tall, narrow central dormer with bargeboard ornamentation reminiscent of the window tracery seen in church windows. A long pointed finial adorns the roof peak and two round-arched windows are in the central dormer. The house has retained many of its original features to the present day; however, the exterior walls of the house have since been covered in siding.

In the winter and early spring of 1982-1983, Randall Speller, a colleague of Larry Pfaff from the Art Gallery of Ontario, took a series of black and white photographs of houses of architectural significance in St. Marys. Larry Pfaff and several local friends who shared this interest in architecture took some additional photographs in a subsequent summer. This photograph is one of this series.
