Description
An article written by local columnist Dorothy Eedy titled "Many proud to call Canada home". In this article, Dorothy Eedy describes the immigration of the Eedy family from Ireland to Canada in the 1830s. She compares it to the modern immigration process. Her daughter-in-law, originally from Ecuador, was becoming a Canadian citizen this year (1990) and Eedy describes the process and ceremony. Finally, Eedy recalls serving lunch with the I.O.D.E. (Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire) to a large number of "new Canadians" shortly after the end of the Second World War.

Recipes included in the article: "French Quebec Crescent Tourtiere".
