Description
This photo provides a view of the house located at 108 Robinson Street. This house was built in 1870 for retired farmer John Henry Clark. It is believed to be a copy of his original residence in Blanshard Township. The yellow-brick cottage overlooks the Thames River. It provides examples of Regency architectural influences seen in the symmetrical construction of the house, the large shuttered windows and the cornice under the roofline. The building features an enclosed verandah which wraps around its north and west sides. Both this house and the two-storey limestone rubble carriage house (107 Ontario St. N.) located behind it are designated heritage properties.

In the winter and early spring of 1982-1983, Randall Speller, a colleague of Larry Pfaff from the Art Gallery of Ontario, took a series of black and white photographs of houses of architectural significance in St. Marys. Larry Pfaff and several local friends who shared this interest in architecture took some additional photographs in a subsequent summer. This photograph is one of this series.
