- Description
- The building located at 9 Robinson Street originally housed the St. Marys Registry Office from 1837 until 1935. The building sat vacant for several years after the county records consolidated in Stratford. Eventually, Reverend DeLoss Scott developed a fundraising effort to transform the office into the Baptist Tabernacle. From 1939 to 2003, the building housed the Tabernacle until the Tabernacle joined with the Grace Community Church in St. Marys. Now, the building houses residential units. Note the rounded doorway and windows and the brick detailing under the roofline.
In the winter and early spring of 1982-1983, Randall Speller, a colleague of Larry Pfaff from the Art Gallery of Ontario, took a series of black and white photographs of buildings of architectural significance in St. Marys. Larry Pfaff and several local friends who shared this interest in architecture took some additional photographs in a subsequent summer. This photograph is one of this series. - Notes
