Description

An article written by local columnist Dorothy Eedy titled "Canada is a 'non-country' as far as United States is concerned". In this article Eedy discusses the lack of media coverage of Canadian news in the United States. She mentions the upcoming Earth Summit in Brazil and Canada's involvement. The United Nations Conference on Environment and Development took place in Rio De Janeiro in June of 1992. Canadian diplomat/businessman Maurice Strong served as Secretary-General at the conference. Eedy writes that while there was no mention of how Canada was involved in the summit in the American news, Canada did make the news that year due to the migration of billions of "Painted Lady" butterflies from Southern California/Northern Mexico to Canada.
