John Wilson Eedy was born and attended school in St. Marys. After the death of his father, Lorne A. Eedy, he took over the position of publisher/editor for the Journal Argus. He also served as an officer during the Second World War with the Oxford Rifles. During his service he was stationed in Prince George, B.C where he met and married Dorothy May Strom in 1943. They moved to St. Marys several years later
Dorothy May Strom Eedy was very involved in the community as a volunteer and as a Sunday School teacher. She sat on numerous boards including the St. Marys Public School Board, St. Marys United Church, St. Marys Community Living, UCW, Inner Wheel, IODE and the St. Marys Library among many others. She also had a lifestyle and cooking column featured weekly in the Journal-Argus called "Eat at Our House."
