Description
This is a photograph of the tulip magnolia tree at 235 Queen Street East. Leone (Lougheed) Buxton was an early dietitian, before the job became more common. Throughout most of the year she lived in New York with her husband, George Buxton, and worked at a hospital there. In the summer, they returned to this property, Leone's family home. Here she had a tulip magnolia tree of which she was very proud. In this photo from 1963, the tree is very young. It still stands (August 2018), but has grown to be taller than the house.

George and Leone Buxton had no children. When Leone died in 2001, she donated to many local charities and organizations, including the St. Marys Museum.
