- William Stevens' Veterinary Surgeon business is featured at the bottom left corner, next to Victoria Mills Flour and Feed business. In the foreground, a man is looking away from the camera to the left, sitting on a buggy carrying a bale of hay on the back, drawn in front by a horse. In the doorway of the W. Stevens V.S. business, two men stand looking directly at the camera with attentive, serious expressions and hands in their pockets or behind their back. The two men are most likely William Stevens and an assistant. Next door at the Victoria Mills business, another man is also looking at the camera in a similar stance (hands behind his back with a serious, attentive expression). Above both stores is a home with a small balcony and four people looking at the camera. Presumably the Stevens' family, two women are sitting down, one facing the camera directly in the middle, the other on the far right turned slightly to face the camera. A young boy stands up straight on the far left of the balcony and a man stands behind the two women, leaning against the side of the door frame.
- Notes
- Condition: Scratches throughout and small spotted grey and brown stains on the sides. Faint white specks and slight fading throughout.
- Inscriptions
- Notes on William Stevens include how he invented new veterinary forceps called Parturition-Forceps (to be used by Veterinary Surgeons) that make it easier to treat animals. The tool itself is not shown in the photograph, however it would have been used at Stevens' business.
