Description
- Simplicity pattern 4125, size 12.
- (A) tissue paper pattern pieces folded together (pieces are fragile so they were not unfolded and individually numbered).
- (B) instruction sheet, printed in black on beige paper.
- (C) pattern envelope; wedding dress and two other dresses that can be made from this pattern illustrated in colour on the front; body measurements, material requirements, suggested fabrics, etc. on the back.
- stamped in black on front of envelope (C): "This Version Contrary to/ Canadian WPTB regulations"
- handwritten in blue ink on front of envelope (C): "My wedding/ dress/ 1944"
- pattern for dress worn by Tena Cates when she wed Charles Mifflin, August 23, 1944 at Trinity United Church in Wheatley.
- This gown required a large amount of white fabric, which was rationed during World War II. White fabric was designated for use in making parachutes. Tena's friends and relatives gave her their ration coupons for white fabric so that she could make this gown.
