- - solid bodied wooden duck decoy painted with a grey head and feathers, green bill and a blue and white flash on the shoulder of the wings
- marks on the underside is the obliterated mark of David Simandle
- black duck decoy carved by David Simandle who was born and raised in Chatham and served in the Canadian military during Word War II. He began carving working decoys for local rigs. He later moved to Michigan where he worked as a prison guard. This duck is typical of his work, c. 1950s and is in very good original paint. His "True North" brand on the underside was intentionally obliterated by one of its owners but the outline is clearly visible. Simandle is considered one of the better carvers from the Chatham-Kent area. In later life, he started carving decorative decoys.
