- This is an image from the Royal Tour of Canada in 1939, which was King George VI and Queen Elizabeth's first Royal visit to Canada after King George had began his reign. On June 6, 1939, their train stopped at the Junction Station in St. Marys in order to take on water for the steam engine. Children from all of the local schools traveled to the Junction Station to greet the King and Queen, and although the children were given priority to see them, there was plenty of space for adults to stand and join in on the welcome too. In this image, large crowds can be seen behind fences on both sides of the railway tracks, while a couple individuals are inside the fences. The train is labelled as 6401.
