Description
A photograph of an employee at a Dominion Rubber Co. factory.

From https://vieux.montreal.qc.ca/inventaire/fiches/fiche_gro.php?id=152:
In 1854, William Brown, Ashley Hibbard and George Bourn formed Brown, Hibbard, Bourn & Co., a Montreal-based company that became the largest producer of rubber articles in Canada. In 1863, a new company, the Canadian Rubber Co., replaced Brown, Hibbard, Bourn & Co. as owner of the rubber factory.

In 1906, the Canadian Rubber Co. formed the Canadian Consolidated Rubber Co. after it merged with the Granby Rubber Co. Four months later, the company bought a major competitor, the Toronto-based Maple Leaf Rubber Co. The company continued to buy out others and by 1907, Canadian Consolidated had brought together six rubber manufacturing companies with plants in Ontario and Quebec.

In 1910, the Commercial Rubber Co. of Saint-Jérôme, Montreal, a component of Canadian Consolidated, changed its name to the Dominion Rubber Co. Gradually, the name Dominion Rubber spread to all Canadian facilities. Finally, in 1926, the name of the Canadian Consolidated Rubber Co. was officially replaced by the Dominion Rubber Co. Ltd.
