Edward died January 12, 1901 at the age of 55, and is interred at Canton Cemetery. This plaque in his memory stands on guard at the cemetery gate. SGT. By 1871, according to that year’s census, he was back living in Hope Township. In 1874 Edward married Elisabeth Emma Bragg of Oxford County, Ontario. Their wedding certificate identifies him as an attorney-at-law living in Rochester. They had no children. Back home again by 1877, Edward E. Dodds was appointed Town Clerk of Hope Township and served in that position until. 1898.
