Photograph of Mary Milroy Caven on her 96th birthday. "Grandma" Caven was born in Scotland in 1803 and died at her home in Motherwell in 1901.
In this photograph, she is wearing a black silk dress and a white head covering that extends over her shoulders and ties under the chin similar in style to other head coverings worn in photographs of Scottish women of the same time period in the collection.
