- Description
- This house was built probably in the 1870s, according to Larry Pfaff, either by Lauriston Cruttenden or Leon Clench whose own houses were close neighbours.
In 1879, the congregation of the new Knox Presbyterian Church rented it for use as a manse for their new minister, the Reverend William A. Wilson, and his bride, Margaret Caven Wilson, daughter of the Reverend William Caven. The Wilsons lived in this house until they left in 1884 for missionary work in India.
This house still stands at 28 Robinson Street and many of its original features can be seen although its open veranda has been replaced by a closed porch.
