Description
Photo of a group of people sitting outside Ercildoune (home of Dr. Thomas Sparks - 236 Jones Street East, St. Marys).

The group includes:
Mrs. George Grant (she lived at "Bliuk Bonnie" on King Street between the Eedy's and the Maxwell's), Isabel Cameron Sparks (daughter of Dr. Sparks), Dr. A. A. Knox (St. Marys), Barbara Sparks (daughter married John Wallace Baird), Mrs. Fair (visitor from New York - great friend of Dr. Sparks from early school days. Had not seen him for years), Dr. Thomas Sparks, Mrs. Thomas Sparks, Mr. Fred Sharp (neighbour - lived across the road - Jones Street), Jessie Sharp (arms extended), Mrs. Charles Brown (great friend - retired from Chicago. Lived across the road on Jones Street where Tom McIntyre lived).
SITTING ON GROUND: Dr. Fraleigh (great friend), Mary Sparks (youngest daughter), Cameron Kester (son of Mrs. Doolittle. Lived across from Lofft's front door. Later he was the first husband of Mary Sparks), Flo Sparling (neighbour - lived behind Harold Maxwell's where Will Andrews later built his home. Flo married Harry Muehlemau of Ontario Hydro and lived in Toronto).

Ercildoune was originally built as a wedding gift to George Carter's daughter Charlotte when she married Henry Lincoln Rice in 1880. The home is built in the Second Empire style, a very rare style of home in St. Marys or any other small town. The Sparks' family lived in this home from about 1905 into the 1950s.
