If this is in fact a portrait of Miss Julia McIntyre's aunt, then this is a picture of my great great grandmother -- Jeanie Caven McFazden, sister of Mary Caven McIntyre, daughter of John and Mary (Milroy) Caven. I have a picture of Jeanie as a very old woman and the features seem to match. Jeanie was born June 14, 1828 in Scotland. Married Andrew McFazden Dec. 29, 1850. Buried St. Marys Ontario.
(The name McFazden was originally spelled McFazdean)
The original Scots spelling was McFadzean found on the grave marker of William McFadzean. The grave was found at the Kirkcolm Cemetery in Scotland and inscribed by their daughters, Mary and Jane McFadzean, in memory of their parents. William McFadzean was the father of Andrew McFadzen, my great-grandfather. The name "Jeanie" was given to those whose real name was "Jane" or "Janet". Andrew immigrated from Stranraer to Motherwell in 1856 and lived near St. Marys, Ontario. He and Jeanie are buried in the St. Marys Cemetery.
