Photo of the Ingersoll house located on Queen Street West right by the Thames River (105-107 Queen Street West). The back part of the home was erected in 1843 and the front portion was erected in 1914.
The house is made from limestone and is one of the oldest homes in town with a beautiful view of the river. A woman can be seen standing on the porch.

Reasons for Designation:
The original (rear) part of this house was built in 1843 for Thomas Ingersoll with limestone quarried from the riverbed. As such it is the oldest house in St. Marys. Thomas Ingersoll, the first permanent resident of the St. Marys area, and his brother, James, were responsible for the founding of Little Falls in 1841 when they came to the site to establish a sawmill and a gristmill.
The front part of this structure, added in 1910, is one of the last examples of stone construction in St. Marys. This house was also the resident of Miss Lillian Ingersoll, grand-daughter of Thomas, and public school teacher to a generation of St. Marys' residents.
Because of its historical associations, this structure should be designated as a living testimony to the founding days of our town.
