- Description
- This scrapbook contains various newspaper clippings that discuss the War of 1812-1814. It focuses mainly on the centennial events and memorials of the War, particularly those relating to Sir Isaac Brock. There are also a few articles that discuss the Native Canadian (First Nations) participation in these ceremonies and their appeal to the audience to support their bid for rights within Canada. Others discuss commemorations for Chippawa, Beaverdams, Queenston Heights, Fort George, Fort Erie, and Lundy’s Lane. The name and dates of the newspaper clippings are unknown. However, it is believed to be around the centennial year of 1912. The cover of the scrapbook is black, the bindings are loose and the pages are stained.
Newspaper clippings included in this record are titled:
"Carried Brock off the Field"
"Helped Care for the General When He Fell at Queenston Heights"
"Lewis McKay’s Recollections of 1812"
"Who Killed General Brock?"
