- This is a black and white photograph of a pencil sketch of a woman, circa 1805-1810. There are two theories on who the woman may be. One believes that is Miss Shaw. However, there is another photo of the same sketch that is signed McDonnell in the lower right corner. Therefore, some believe that it is a sketch of Miss McDonnell. Note that the woman is wearing long wrinkled sleeves, ruffles on the collar, dark rosettes on her shoes, and a scarf. Her hair is also tightly curled. This photo of a sketch can help to figure out what women might have been wearing during the War of 1812.
