appears to be a 1860's American Civil War sword, far too late for 1812. Copied from the French pattern of 1822.

Seems this 1860 pattern American sword is still being listed as a War of 1812 sword, only made approx. 48 years after the 1812 war.

After digging further into this item, we have found that it is actually dated 1906 and we aren't even sure how it ended up getting uploaded to this 1812 site. We have two of these in our collection which are identical. This one, you cannot quite see the date on it but it has other markings (AS Co., a bomb with flames and US JHC). The matching sword has all of the same markings but the date is clearly 1906. We apologize for the error!

You can clearly see the 1906 date on this sword too, if you know what you are looking at. 1906 sword aren't all that common, so it's still a nice piece.
