Description
This steel bayonet would have been designed to fit on the muzzle of a rifle or musket barrel, making it into a close range weapon. There are no visible identifying marks but it is the proper size and shape of an early 19th century British bayonet. A bayonet would have arguably been on every soldier’s firearm during the War of 1812-1814.
Further research in 2010 suggests that due to the deformity of the bayonet it may have been later used as a tool or a tent peg.
