Description
This sword is believed to be from an American soldier in the artillery. It is decorated with an embossed gilded pattern of an American eagle crest and floral motifs. The hilt also has an eagle head pommel and a carved ivory hand grip.
Further research by Glen Smith in 2010 suggests it is an American sword which could be a senior infantry officer or artillery. The sword was originally identified as artillery because of the yellow of the sword, however it could have originally been gold in colour and has changed to yellow over time. C 1800.
