Description
This is the uniform button of the Royal Marines. There is a raised anchor in the centre with a laurel wreath around the bottom half and the name of the regiment across the top. The metal button is 2cm in diameter and was possibly gilded.

The first and second battalion had been employed in the Chesapeake, US along with the Marine Artillery, but arrived in Halifax on September 13, 1813. From there, the second battalion, under Lt.-Colonel Malcolm was sent to Quebec. The first battalion participated in the battles at Chrysler’s Farm and LaColle Mills and the second battalion was in Oswego.
