Well done! We did serve in the Bay of Biscay as well as those areas mentioned. At that time, the enemy subs were being rerouted to Biscay ports like La Pallice and one on the Gironde River. Not he safest place on the map then! Also in waters all around Britain except for the southern 9 tenths of the North Sea.
This story started prior to my becoming involved. That was in 1977. Locally that is! Historically it started with the Canadian govenrment's department of National Defence requisitioning naval warships from Canadian ship yards in 1941. The PORT COLBORNE was in the first group of frigates to be requisitioned. It was Messrs Yarrows Ltd hull no., 84 and the navay's no., C.N. 383. The original ship took much longer to construct than the model. It was not without it's faults and it did have many good features in the eyes of those who sailed in her.
