    The Advance was originally on Sydenham Street but moved to this two-storey location in 1900 where it was printed for another 68 years before moving again.

    Founded by A.R. Fawcett, the paper was printed here until the end of the century when it moved to Durham Street. The building no longer exisits.

    The three-room public school was built in 1891 to accommodate the growing number of children. It was used until 1968.

    Originally called the Flesherton Station. However, as the station was not actually in the town they changed the name to Ceylon (after the tea) to fix the confusion it made for the postal service.

    In the back right is the Sproule building so is this picture was taken before it burned down in 1910 but after the Bell Company came to town in 1891.
