The Ontario Library Association is constantly on the lookout for issues of importance to its members and to library development in Ontario. OLA or division task forces are struck as each issue arises. Each task force analyzes the issue or legislation and proposes a plan of action appropriate to the situation. The Executive Director and OLA elected officials meet government officials regularly and support task force recommendations wherever and whenever possible. All parts of OLA work together to provide members with lobbying support and with pertinent information where and when it is most necessary. At the 1991 OLA Conference, task forces are providing sessions on funding, governance, information policy development, copyright, the implementation of the Ontario Public Library Strategic Plan, native issues and employment equity. Other issues that come up between now and November will be added to the program as information becomes available.
