Peter Sis Gayle Friesen 0 0 PETER SIS, author/ illustrator of 1997 Caldecott Honour Book, Starry Messenger, and award-winning filmmaker (Berlin Film Festival), will talk about his writing in Session #813, about his illustration at the Children's Award Luncheon on Saturday. His filmwork will be one of ten things going on at Friday night 's La Ronde at the University of Toronto. Master puppeteer Don Mills is working on a new puppet, Madame Ola, who will be delighting you with an evening of fortunetelling. Although there are no charges for the evening at the University of Toronto (other than dinner), Don is hoping delegates will donate a toonie to the Canadian Children's Book Centre as part of their enjoyment of his mad fortune teller. Children's author Richard Scrimger, will read from his very funny works, as will young people's poet Sheree Fitch . Peter Sfs ' award-winning films will be on view - a very different side of this creator. An adult author is still to be identified by the University of Toronto Book Store, the source of some of Toronto's greatest reading evenings. The tours of the extraordinary Information Commons at the Robarts Library and of the new electronic library, Inforum, at the Faculty of Information Studies, will go on throughout the evening. The Faculty of Information Studies will be demonstrating ITER, a new web site for medieval studies. The Adaptive Technologies Centre will show you the latest state-of-the-art equipment for library patrons with handicaps. You can attend a presentation or come just to try things for yourself. Guides will help. Given the evening 's success, closing dessert receptions are planned for both the Fisher Rare Book Library and FIS . Developed as part of the educational event OLA Store has new professional literature as well as materials by speakers MATERIAL IS being collected from professional library publishers across North America for inclusion in the OLA Store, a major educational highlight of Super Conference. "The sheer cost of professional literature means that it needs to be seen and not ordered from a catalog," says OLA President Brian Bell. "This is a great service that everyone should use." The Super Conference planning team also highlights work by authors and speakers appearing at this year's program.The choice is quite extraordinary.
