This innovative charity puts text from stories and poems in the exact physical locations where literary scenes take place, and has prompted Manchester's The Guardian newspaper to say "Lucky Canada! Why can't we do the same in the UK?" With the help of visionary organizations and individuals, Project Bookmark Canada is building a national network of sites and stories so that Canadians and visitors can read their way across our country. The current Bookmark tally stands at 13 installations, which can be found in four provinces. Hill is also a writer and the author of Sleeping Funny (Doubleday Canada, 2012), a collection of nine short stories. In 2011, Hill won the Writers' Trust/McClelland & Stewart Journey Prize. In 2013, she was pleased to serve on the jury for the prize's 25th anniversary. She is at work on a novel, also for Doubleday. Hill was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario and grew up in Alliston, Ontario home of a potato festival, a car plant and Frederick Banting.
