Avery provides on-site instruction for corporations and has facilitated interactive technology workshops for over 1,000 students. She has a reputation in research on e-learning, virtual community, and distributed knowledge from a social network analysis perspective, and the impact of computer media and the Internet on work, learning and social interaction. Current initiatives include her role as a founding member with the Society for Learning Analytics Research. He is a Fellow at the Berkman Centre for Internet & Society at Harvard University, and has written and spoken on topics such as the future of technology and libraries, personal electronics in the library, and privacy. He is one of eight winners of the Knight Foundation News Challenge for Libraries for the Measure the Future project, an open hardware project designed to provide actionable use metrics for library spaces. Jason is the creator and director of The LibraryBox Project, an open source portable digital file distribution system. He can be stalked obsessively online, and spends his free time with his daughter Eliza.
